Let’s analyze this segment of Deutsche Welle’s video where they attempt to gain sympathy for a drug dealer. Nafiz Alam rented a house identifying him as a student and used to sell drugs impersonating a police officer. He didn’t have any permission to run a liquor store from his house, it’s even illegal in Bangladesh.
The most important point of Nafiz Alam’s story is that the bottles were planted by RAB. But DW couldn’t verify the claim, which is mentioned in the article. Then, why should anyone think Alam’s story is credible?
RAB cannot randomly pick up people in Bangladesh. They conduct raids only if a specific complaint is filed. If the complaint involves drugs, RAB is given priority. The plot that they were attempting to uncover was merely a fabricated story. Netra News is spreading misinformation through Germany-based Deutsche Welle by depicting drug dealer and BNP activist Nafiz Alam as a victim of RAB.
The platform, Mayer Dak (Mother’s Call), belongs to BNP. Sanjida Islam, the organization’s leader, is not politically neutral. She works for BNP and attended several events organized by BNP. Her brother, Sajedul Islam Sumon, was the General Secretary of BNP Ward No. 25. Different versions have been given regarding his whereabouts. More than 80 families joined the organization, attracted by its name, but they later realized they were being used to form human chains to free BNP members involved in various crimes. As a result, they gradually distanced themselves from the organization.
RAB commanders, heard in this video, state that they were involved in several crossfires themselves. Why aren’t all those incidents mentioned? Did they not violate human rights? If they were truly innocent, why did they hide and only come forward now? They claim to have only followed orders but refuse to reveal who gave them. Instead, they directly accuse the Prime Minister. DW didn’t clarify how PM is involved. There are no actual whistleblowers but storytellers.
One thing is clear in this docu-fiction: only BNP members are targeted in the crossfire. Awami League is using RAB to remain in power forever. Were the thousands of Awami League leaders and activists who died in the crossfire or went missing during the BNP period not victims of crime? Deutsche Welle never mentioned that crossfire started at the hands of BNP.
BNP and their high command Khaleda-Tarique committed severe human rights violations by carrying out Operation Clean Heart with RAB, police, and even the army in Bangladesh, granting them impunity. Sheikh Hasina has since changed the situation, and RAB is now working to combat militancy and drugs. If BNP members and their allies engage in militant activities and die in crossfire or gunfights, is it Sheikh Hasina’s or Awami League’s responsibility?
Also, it was mentioned that all RAB members involved in crossfire go on peacekeeping missions. A vast conspiracy lies behind the creation of this documentary to prevent Bangladeshi forces from participating in peacekeeping missions. The claim that RAB goes on peacekeeping missions is entirely false and baseless.
